Sunrise Outreach Center believes in community mobilization. The balance of our work is accomplished with volunteers and partnerships programs.

On almost any given day you can find between ten and fifteen volunteers throughout Yakima County working in various Sunrise Outreach programs.

Art Expressions

Do you love art? Do you like to stir paint and make crafts? Are you an empty- nester? Want to improve your own art skills? We are looking for excellent, fun-loving volunteers of all ages to help us prep art projects before class or hang out with our students during class. We’ve noticed our little people especially need help cutting, carrying, drawing, painting – so we need at least one volunteer each class.

Food Delivery Volunteers

Soup Kitchen Volunteers

Volunteers work in the mornings from 8:00-10:00am Monday-Friday to prepare soup and sandwiches, coffee and other food for the local community.

We serve food to the guests from 10:00am to 12:00am. After 12:00, the volunteers help with basic clean-up of the dining room and kitchen.

A heart for the hungry, a hospitable attitude and willingness to commit to at least one day’s service a week is appreciated.

Volunteer to Serve … and to Grow

Group Volunteer Projects

If you have a group of persons who would like to take on a day long or afternoon long project on a one-time basis, there are lots of opportunities to support Sunrise Outreach programs in this way. Some examples:

  • organize a solicitation drive for food for our five food banks
  • paint existing buildings
  • perform maintenance on facilities – skilled help welcome
  • organize donation rooms
  • clean and mend donated clothing
  • and more!

If employees in your business or members of your community organization would like to volunteer for a project day, please contact us.
